golf course access, nostalgic cabins, charming historical feel
The units could benefit from modernization, as some might find the dated charm less appealing!!! The musty odor in the cabins is an unwelcome surprise that could deter many guests!!!

Good for a quiet retreat
I stayed in a room with a fireplace and enjoyed the peace while looking over the golf course, it was exactly the break I needed. Breakfast at the restaurant was fantastic, really set the tone for the day.
It wasn't exactly low-priced but the experience made it worth it.

Charming historical lodge with a touch of nostalgia and a lovely patio area to unwind. Enjoyed some golf and friendly service, but be prepared for limited dining options and an occasional wait at the front desk during busy times. Overall, a pleasant retreat in a quiet location.

missingWrote a review on 14 Septclean roomshistoric feelcozy patiolimited dining
Maxwelton Braes Lodge impressed me with its charming historical feel. The clean rooms featured essential amenities such as a microwave and flat-screen TV. I loved having access to the tennis and pickleball courts. The complimentary cruiser bicycles allowed me to explore Baileys Harbor with ease. I enjoyed the cozy patio area for some outdoor relaxation. One slight downside was the limited dining options, as the Thyme Restaurant was no longer in full operation. The restaurant that was open had a limited menu and was closed for breakfast. A few maintenance details could use attention, like minor repairs and paint touch-ups in the bathroom. Despite these small issues, the friendly staff and inviting atmosphere made the stay enjoyable.

Had a great stay with friends! We explored the scenic surroundings, enjoying some kayaking and hiking nearby. The lodge has a lovely sun terrace and a restaurant with stunning golf course views. The area is rich in local landmarks, and the history behind the golf course added to our memorable experience.
We encountered a bit of a wait at the reception desk, which was slightly inconvenient. It took a while to check in, so make sure you have some patience when you arrive.

This was a commendable fit for a weekend pause in Baileys Harbor with good value for cost. The room got a pleasant breeze from the windows, even if they didn’t seal well. Bring your own water for brushing teeth since the well water might be surprising.
